I’m dreaming of a pants Christmas

Yesterday, I was most pleased to be able to share with you all a bit of holiday cheer in the form of a Christmas pants song. Which leads me to think there could be far more holiday pants songs. On top of that, this week’s Monday Mission asks for posts in the form of Christmas lists. And I thought to myself, “I should make a list.” So, here I offer you a very Merry Christmas Pants Playlist. Pull up your festive pants and enjoy!

  5. #15 is my favorite – natch. But I like #3 too. :)

  6. You forgot one of my favorites, “Pants Ride”!

  7. O Holy Pants made me laugh, like audibly. what about Little Drummer Pants?

  8. Oh crap I saw it! nevermind!

  9. LOL! A very merry, Pants-mas to you.

  10. No, no, no. I need to change two:
God rest ye merry gentle pants AND
    Oh come all ye pants-full

I so wish I knew you.

  11. O Holy Pants – ha!

(of course, I can only laugh at that notion since my recent trip to Marks and Spencer…)

  12. You have, of course, heard of the Fellowship of the Pants?

  13. I just had a serious garden path moment involving pants, and I thought I’d share.

I googled the group “Pants Yell!” because I read a good blurb about their new album. At the top of the page where they list the product search results, I see, not a CD, but:
Junior’s Active Bottoms Rebel Yell Sweat Pant

It took me a long time to parse this.. I had “rebel” as a verb, and was going with that (even though I couldn’t figure out why Junior’s active bottom was rebelling- a period of inactivity perhaps?) until I hit the remaining words which became a stream of verbs implying that Junior’s bottom had become very active indeed and was now yelling, sweating and panting. After my brain forced me to back up and re-parse, I realized that “rebel-yell” needed a hyphen, and “pant”, of course, should be “pants”, even if you only purchase one pair for your active junior’s bottom. But was I wrong to be confused by this? Or is the store in question (K-Mart) trying to lure the active bottom googling crowd? Hmm..

  14. Gee, can you spot the linguists in this crowd?

Me, I’m dreaming of white pants.
